More than 200 dogs and their owners participated on Sunday in the third annual Paws to the Pavement, a three kilometre walk along the foreshore to raise funds for Stockton Historical Society and Stockton Scouts.
Society publicity officer Jason Wells said his organisation partnered with a different not-for-profit group each year to co-ordinate the event, which aims to promote the suburb’s open spaces, many of which feature signs that point to historically significant sites.
“We had pups to quite elderly dogs and everything from American Staffys to Yorkshire Terriers,” he said.
“There were roughly around 200 humans but some had five or six dogs, so there were definitely more paws than feet.
“It was a relaxed morning and great opportunity for dogs to socialise and for owners to meet other people with the same breed and talk about dog behaviours.”
The walk started and ended in an off-leash area, adjacent to a market area where specialist retailers offered dog-friendly products and services.
