According to People, the Australian actor and director, 61, and the Californian champion equestrian vaulter, 26, had a baby boy on Friday, January 20, in Los Angeles weighing 2.4 kg.
Despite being born on the same day as Donald Trump's inauguration, the parents decided against naming him after the new US president, instead choosing Lars Gerard.
When speaking to Fairfax Media in October at the Sydney premiere of Hacksaw Ridge, Gibson said of Ross' pregnancy: "New people coming, someone I'll get to meet."
Last month on the AACTAs red carpet, he added he would be showing the first-time mum the ropes: "It is her first time and I have seen it before so I am going to be very good support, very good experienced support."
The Braveheart star is already father to Hannah, 36, twins Christian and Edward, 34, William, 31, Louis, 28, Milo, 26, and Thomas, 17, from his 28-year marriage to ex-wife Robyn Moore; and daughter Lucia, seven, with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.
