The Pokolbin based family restaurant is the brain-child of partners Matthew and Jimmy Kerr and was opened 18 months ago, out of desire to feed family, share love and embrace as much local and organic produce as they can source.

As the name suggests, Nanna Kerr’s Kitchen was named after Nanna Kerr at the insistence of grandson Matthew, whose Nanna, a Maitland born girl, now living at Gunnedah and aged 80, lost her home in 2011 to fire, after it was struck by lightning.

With her beloved kitchen gone Matthew and Jimmy wanted the restaurant to re-create the hub that was Nanna’s Kitchen and also provide that same sense of family values and sharing to both locals and visitors alike, all centered around great, nourishing food.

In a delightful vineyard setting the Kerr’s have crafted a country style restaurant that values great service, beautiful food and the importance of bringing family together.

Part of the building was the Drayton’s Wood sheds, dating back to the early 1800’s, it stands alongside the beautiful restaurant that features Australian hardwood throughout and offers a warm and friendly dining experience with outstanding service.

“We welcome families with open arms and love to see children of all ages enjoy our food in the company of their family, food is such an important way to share and it is great that we can be part of that here in the Hunter ” says Jimmy Kerr.

A hit with both locals and visitors to the Hunter Valley region, the menu offers a mouth watering array of choices either indulgent or healthy, providing breakfasts, lunch and dinner along with an impressive children’s menu and vegan and gluten-free options available. Marking Nanna’s 80^th birthday the Dirty Chai Panna Cotta was a recent addition to the menu and is proving to be a huge hit with patrons.

“Whether it’s a special occasion, a dinner for two or family get-together, we cater for everyone and believe that everyone should be able to enjoy great, wholesome food in a relaxed setting,” added Jimmy.

With a price-list that doesn’t break the bank, families are regulars at Nanna Kerr’s, taking advantage of the early first sitting at 5.30pm, with diners seated for last service at 8.30pm. Thursday night is ‘locals night’ with 3 courses for $49 and BYO at $5.
