Work on three exercise stations is expected to be completed by February 15.

Each of the stations is designed to be user-friendly with an instruction panel advising how they are to be used.

Adele Chapman from National Australia Bank (NAB) and Lurline Trustum from Neighbourcare turned the sod for the work in searing heat last week with the support of  Neighbourcare’s Manager Cherylin Brown, Gerard Vaughhan from the contractors A_Space and Kelly Sinclair from NAB.

Support Co-Ordinator for Dungog and District Neighbourcare, Lurline Trustum, said the project was a way for the community to “reclaim the park” after the damage caused in the April 2015 storm.

“When the NAB offered funding following the storm it was suggested that something be done in Jubilee Park,” she said.

“This equipment has been chosen to accommodate all levels of ability to assist in building core strength and general fitness.

“It is hoped that no only individuals but also all local sporting groups will take advantage of this new equipment as it is suitable for all ages and is available 24/7.”

This equipment is being built with funding from a variety of sources.

This included a grant from the Department of Family and Community Services and donations from the National Australia Bank and  Lodge Hunter Hiram and the Lodge Secretary Association.

The community’s donations to Neighbourcare at Lovey’s Super IGA also added to the funds.

Dungog Shire Council has also supported the project, including with paths and lighting.

“We will be planning an official opening and some trials and training days to provide the community with information on getting the best out of this fitness equipment, once the building phase is over,” said Mrs Trustum

“Once completed the opportunity to use it is 24 hours a day.

“We look forward to seeing you in the park.”
