The taxi driver and passenger, at the time, agreed to a fare of $600 for the transport.
They arrived at Hope Estate around 8pm, when the passenger has handed the driver $400 cash and allegedly walked off.
The taxi driver followed the passenger and grabbed his bag and identification.
With this the passenger allegedly ran off into Hope Estate where Bruce Springsteen was holding a concert.
The taxi driver reported the matter to Cessnock Police.
At the conclusion of the concert the passenger presented himself to Cessnock Police Station where he explained to police that he follows Springsteen around the world and was concerned about missing a song of his.
He then stated he would immediately transfer the other $200 into the taxi account.
Police and the cab driver have determined that the passenger had a plausible excuse and all parties were satisfied with the outcome.
Offensive behaviour
Around midday on Friday a store attendant at Coles Cessnock was allegedly subject to a number of derogatory and offensive taunting remarks by a 15-year-old girl.
At times the young person was allegedly so offensive and loud that she was heard by elderly people and small children in the vicinity of the location.
The police were called and attended to speak with the girl. Police said the girl continued to laugh and appeared to have a lack of regard for the law.
She was arrested and conveyed to Cessnock Police Station where she was later charged.
Knife and taser found
At 11.30am on Friday police were patrolling Barton Street, Kurri Kurri when they observed a man in his late 20s allegedly riding a bicycle with no helmet.
Police made an attempt to stop the male and speak to him however he rode off at speed.
The man eventually stopped for police when he was later sighted in Hughes Close. He was then spoken to and searched.
During the search police allegedly located a folding knife (approximately 18 centimetres long with the blade extended) inside his left hip pocket.
A search of the man’s bag allegedly located a small makeshift taser.
He was then arrested and later charged. He will appear before Kurri Kurri Court in March.
Men’s ring handed in
Police are hoping to find the owner of a men’s ring handed into Cessnock Police Station last week.
The ring was located on Lang Street, Kurri Kurri, on the ground outside the bus stop at the cross of Greta Street around 10.45am Thursday, February 16.
Police believe the ring holds sentimental value.
