The annual celebration of all things Irish is marked on March 17, which is believed to be the day the patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick, died in 461AD.
Abermain Bowling Club is joining the festivities this year, with an Irish feast in Blue’s Bistro and family-friendly entertainment.
The bistro is under new management by Eamon and Kaycee Conboy, who relocated from Sydney to the Hunter in September.
Head chef Eamon is Irish, and always celebrates St Patrick’s Day in a big way.
The night will include live music and DJ sets by Mick Fetch, Irish dancing, prizes for best dressed, raffles and some great dinner specials like traditional Irish stew and beef and Guinness pie (as well as the bistro’s regular menu).
The Conboys took over the kitchen at Abermain Bowling Club just three weeks ago and it has been a busy time for them as they settle in, but they are very excited about the future.
“The excitement comes from finding the right place – to be welcomed into the club, meeting new members and locals and have them enjoy our food, it is very rewarding,” Eamon said.
Abermain Bowling Club’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations will kick off at 6.30pm.
Bookings are recommended; call 4930 4285.
