In the lead-up to Bullying, No Way! Day, Paxton students designed posters that demonstrate their interpretation of respect – one of core the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning values.
“We were learning about how to show respect for others in the playground,” teacher Teri Clark said.
“Some of the things students spoke about were respectful play, respecting people who are different and respect for other cultures.”
Alex’s poster shows his friends playing in the school sandpit, depicting respect as “playing nicely in the playground”.
The winners will be announced in Sydney on March 17, the seventh annual National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
Interrelate’s poster design competition is in its fourth year, and aims to raise awareness of the issue of bullying and assist schools to identify and address bullying behaviours in their school communities.
Paxton Public School will participate in Bullying, No Way! Day activities on Friday, as well as multicultural activities for Harmony Day.
