The workshop is put on by Roads and Maritime Services and council, offering practical advice on how to teach learner drivers to be safer motorists.
These workshops provide information about understanding the current laws for L and P licence holders; completing the learner driver log book; supervising learner drivers and understanding the benefits of supervised on-road driving experience.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent encourages parents and supervisors of learner drivers to attend the workshop, to help new drivers become responsible road users.
“Learning to drive is one of the important skills anyone will ever learn,” Cr Pynsent said.
“A key part of the Graduated Licence Scheme is that all learner drivers under 25 years must complete logged hours of on-road driving experience prior to presenting for their provisional P licence.
“Supervisors of learner drivers play an important role in making our roads and community safe, so we are supporting them by providing tips and are giving them an opportunity to ask questions.”
The workshop will run from 6pm to 8pm.
Bookings are essential and all inquiries should be directed to council’s road safety officer, Warren Jeffery, on 4993 4244.
