The autumn/winter schedule includes the club championship for all divisions, rounds of the Rock Oil Winter Series for senior solos and junior 250cc solos, rounds of the LKI Winter Series for junior 125cc solos and the Aussie speedway kart titles in September.
“The club was rewarded for its big effort last summer with world class racing when we hosted a number of national title events and our fans gave us some great feedback,” club president Peter Campton said.
“In the past few weeks, we have worked to put together a program of racing to especially provide opportunities for the host of competitors who have not gone overseas.”
Former world speedway champion Jason Crump is the Australian distributor for Rock Oil and has thrown his support behind the new senior solo and junior 250cc solo series. Crump knows all too well the importance of providing regular, high performance competition which is the key concept of the new series.
Jason Daniel, Company director of LKI (Loosekid Industries) was equally enthusiastic to support the junior 125cc solo series to be run in conjunction with the senior series. The Queensland family based youth lifestyle clothing brand is inspired by “water and wheels” and welcomes its expansion into speedway.
Both the Rock Oil Winter Series and the LKI Winter series will be held over seven rounds at four NSW venues, starting and finishing at Kurri Kurri speedway with rounds also being held at Cowra, Albury and Appin.
Organisers have planned for each series to be round to be based on the World Speedway Grand Prix format with two semi finals and the final following the qualifying heats.
The NSW Speedway Kart Club will conduct the official 2017 Australian Speedway Kart Championship over two days on September 16 and 17.
The first event of the Kurri Kurri Speedway Club autumn/winter series will be held on Saturday, April 8, featuring the opening rounds of the winter series and the club championship.
With racing reverting to day time events, gates will open at 9am and racing is scheduled to start with the junior 125cc events at 11am.
