Craig Tamlan Lambkin, 26, of Weston, was charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread, stemming from a blaze that raged in bushland between the Kurri Kurri cemetery and a public swimming pool on January 24.
He applied for bail in Maitland Local Court after his arrest, but it was refused.
But after spending nearly two months in custody, Mr Lambkin launched a bail application in the Sydney Supreme Court on Wednesday.
He was successful after someone agreed to post a $10,000 surety.
Mr Lambkin will next appear in court on Monday.
