The team takes on against Port Macquarie Roller Derby League in a ‘Rock ‘n’ Roller Derby’ at Cessnock Toyota Stadium.
The match is the first of three co-ed games for the Maitland squad.
Maitland Roller Derby president Hayley Miles said they were hoping for back-to-back wins after the Junkyard Jerks won round one of the 5x5 Roller Derby Championship on Saturday night.
Ms Miles, known as Doris McGee on the court, suffered a broken rib during the bout so she has been ruled out of this weekend’s match.
It will be the first time in the Maitland uniform for a few male members, who Ms Miles said were ready and raring to go.
Richard Sinclair, who is known as ‘Nobody’ on the court, and Mark McGlinn, also known as Switchblade, will take the court for Maitland for the first time after years training with the club.
AJ Stevens, who was part of the Wizards of Aus at the Roller Derby World Cup in 2014, has come on board as new coach.
The co-ed team’s name will be revealed at the bout this weekend, which is nostalgia themed.
There will be a vintage show and shine with cars from the All Shook Up Car Club.
The All Shook Up dancers will perform at half-time, there will be a selfie/kissing booth and the Pink Cadillac Diner food truck will provide food.
Spectators are also invited to don their best nostalgic clothes for the event.
“It’s going to be really fun,” Ms Miles said.
The club president said the mixed version of the game should be high intensity and involve big hits.
Ms Miles said she hoped to get a bigger crowd than the 417 people that attended the last home game.
The game is the first of three for the Maitland co-ed side. Another bout has been organised for August 6 and the third is to be announced.
While the games are mainly for fun, Ms Miles said the concept of co-ed roller derby was rising in popularity.
She said they hoped to have a full men’s team by the end of the year.
Doors open at 4.30pm this Saturday. The first whistle is at 5.30pm.
