The tournament will honour the memory of Helen Edwards and Colleen Hinchcliffe, two much-loved members of the local poker community who passed away from cancer within months of each other.
The Helen and Colleen Check-Raise for Cancer organiser Mandy Grills said the pair’s passing left a huge hole many people’s hearts.
“I started playing poker in 2006 and for as long as I can remember, both Helen and Colleen were always there,” Ms Grills said.
“I wanted a way we could combine remembering them, while raising money to fight the disease that took them.”
Registration is open from 11am Sunday and the game will start at noon.
Buy-in is $25 for the freeze-out bounty game, with $10 going straight to the Cancer Council.
There will also be a raffle on the day.
Donations can be made online here.
