The new attactions complement the adrenaline-fuelled excitement of the nationally rated go kart track.
The 18-hole putt putt course is a huge scaled model of Barthurst’s famous Mount Panorama racing car track.
Forty metres wide by 80m deep, the golf course features Mount Panorama-themed artwork and signage throughout and obstacles shaped from racing car parts.
Players putt through V8 supercar rims, between V8 supercar brake disks and down Conrod straight featuring big conrods.
Bathurst artwork is everywhere and the signage, done by Insane Signage at Cardiff, is in the same font as the famous track.
Massive retainer walls with the same undulations as the real track will have golfers thinking they’re at Bathurst as they putt up the mountain.
There’s Dunlop Bridge, Ford Bridge, Holden Bridge, and even a hole called “The Rock” in honour of Dick Johnson.
Plans are also afoot to create a similar theme in honour of the great Peter Brock.
“It’s the only design of it’s kind in the world,” Go Karts Go owner Wayne Russell said.
“We have built Bathurst and it’s come up really well. When people head out there they are surprised at the effort that’s gone into the course.”
The brand new archery range adds another dimension to the fun at Kearsley.
“You shoot from under cover at outdoor targets, so it’s completely weather proof,” Wayne explained.
“Our staff teach you how to use the recurve bows which are simple to master.
“There are 12 lanes and you fire over a distance of about 12 to 15 metres.
“We use the big international targets and it’s a test of skill so you can challenge yourself, your mates and family. It’s really cool.”
Kearsley Go Kart Track is one of four operated by Go Karts Go around the Hunter, the others being at Cameron Park, Broadmeadow and Bob’s Farm.
Kearsley opened 12 months ago and has earned rave reviews since day one as one of the best four-stroke go kart tracks in Australia.
The purpose-built 850m state-of-the-art showpiece is a driver’s delight.
Seven metres wide the entire length, it features extended straights, banked corners and elevated topography across the journey.
It’s big enough to cater to 30 people on the track at any one time and boasts state-of-the-art lap-timing technology. All karts are the latest specification RIMO go karts from Europe.
There are specially designed junior go karts as well as twin seaters, allowing the track to cater to speed demons as young as three years right up to 99.
There is also undercover barbecue facilities and a kiddies playground.
“The original DA for the Kearsley go kart track always included the putt putt course and archery range,” Wayne said.
“We’re excited that we’re opening the new attractions and have plans moving forward for other exciting initiatives.”
Cost to play a round of golf or archery is $15 per adult and $13 per child each or $10 each activity if you combine with a session on the go karts.
Go Karts Go Kearsley is located at 202 Neath Road, Kearsley and is open 9am to 5pm throughout the school holidays.
