A 350-strong crowd filled the park to hear local and imported musicians while the Hunter’s emerging half-pipe legends competed in a scooter, bike and skate competition.
YouthFest is the central event in Cessnock City Council’s Youth Week program which ran from March 31 to April 9 and included outdoor cinemas, discos and workshops across the area.
Cessnock City Council’s youth service coordinator Will Doran said the event bloomed thanks to perfect weather, awesome bands and the skills and culture of the young people at its core.
“The day was made possible by collaboration between local young people, youth agencies and generous sponsors,” Mr Doran said.
“They certainly did themselves proud.”
Mr Doran extended his thanks to Cessnock Youth Entertainment Committee, the various individuals who helped the event come together and all the young people who attended on the day.
