Go4Fun is targeted at children aged seven to 13 who are above a healthy weight, and their parents or carers.
It incorporates discussion groups and activities aimed to promote a healthier, more active lifestyle.
During the 10-week program children and their families get involved in fun games and activities to get more physically active and they learn about delicious nutritious foods they can eat every day.
Participants must be accompanied by a parent or carer, and siblings are also encouraged to attend.
Go4Fun program manager Cathy Stubbs said the program decided to branch into Cessnock after expressions of interest from the area, and there has been a good response, with enrolments almost at capacity.
Go4Fun will start at Cessnock Toyota Stadium on April 27 and will every Thursday during term two from 4pm to 6pm.
