The Mustangs shot at just 36 per cent from the field in beating Sutherland Sharks 68-55 on the road on Saturday.
But as good teams do, they found a way to win even when below their best. Again it was their defensive pressure as they pulled in 49 rebounds including 22 in offence to get across the line with sheer numbers of shots.
The win keeps Maitland on top of the Waratah Champions League with seven wins from their eight games.
US import Tyler Monroe secured his eighth double-double leading all contenders with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Captain Terrell Turner led from the front with 16 points, five assists and four rebounds. Jack Edwards missed his first double-double of the season with 10 rebounds and nine points.
The Mustangs are back home next Saturday against Manly.
