The drop-in sessions will be held on the corner of Charlton and Cooper Streets (or at Cessnock Library if it is raining) on Tuesday, May 30 from 2pm to 6pm and Saturday, June 10 from 10am to 2pm.
The plan provides a framework for public domain infrastructure upgrades that aim to set out a strong vision for Cessnock as an attractive, thriving and vibrant commercial precinct.
The plan features a number of ideas including a town square, increase in building height and development incentives.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said it is exciting to see the plans for our community.
“There are a number of opportunities that will transform the heart of Cessnock and provide for a better experience for businesses, residents and visitors,” Cr Pynsent said.
“Take the time to look at the plan and you’ll see we have a variety of options to improve our current commercial precinct including the development of a town square.”
Cr Pynsent encouraged the community to provide feedback and attend a drop-in session.
“A local perspective is vital as we work towards building a thriving commercial precinct,” he said.
“We need to strategically plan together for the anticipated growth of our local government area.”
The draft plan will be placed on public exhibition at council’s administration building, libraries and website until June 14.
