More often than not the best way to get inspired is to enlist the help of professionals that can guide you safely to achieve results and stay with you throughout your health and fitness journey.
Yet taking that first step can be nerve racking.
When Natasha O’Neil of Cessnock first approached her local branch of Snap Fitness she was cautious.
Having knocked on the doors of other gyms in the past only to feel intimidated or put off, the nervous 19 year old was surprised by the welcome she received from the team at Snap.
In January 2017, weighing 160 kilos and suffering from the devastating loss of both her parents Natasha was also battling with depression and anxiety and yet somehow found the resolve to decide that enough was enough.
“I was taking high doses of medication for my mental illness and eating takeaway 4 times a day. I got to a point where I was sad all the time and could no longer fit into even the biggest clothes sizes in stores, begins Natasha.
“It was at this point I realised I couldn’t continue and something needed to change.”
After a friend tagged Natasha to a membership offer online from Snap Fitness in Cessnock, she made a call to Manager Silvia Serto and was encouraged to pay a visit and find out more.
“From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and cared for. I signed up straightaway, says Natasha.
With some initial assessment and introduction to equipment around the gym, Natasha was assigned to personal trainer, Sarah, who devised a balanced and realistic plan combining cardio and resistance exercises.
“We really do focus on everyone as an individual and customise programs so that our clients achieve their goals and feel supported,” commented Silvia.
With a team of 3 dedicate trainers offering years of expertise and a raft of classes including Fat Blast, Tone Up, Box Fit and Yoga there’s plenty of choice for clients to workout in a way that suits them.
6 months on and Natasha is well on her way to reaching her weight loss goal. She has already shed 35 kilos and is now cooking balanced meals everyday.
She no longer takes medication for her mental health and says she is enjoying better sleep, smoother skin and a much happier frame of mind.
“I can honestly say I have never met a more caring bunch of people, I haven’t just joined a gym I have made great friends, they have literally saved my life.”
While she is aware there’s still challenges ahead, her future is now looking far brighter.
