The Cheese Lovers Festival has expanded and will be held over two days at the Sebel Kirkton Park this weekend.
An exciting addition to this year’s festival will be the debut of the world’s first ‘cheese cone’ – a collaboration between Kurrajong Kitchen Lavosh and Hunter Belle Cheese.
Inspired by the traditional ice cream cone, the cheese cone combines a Kurrajong Kitchen Lavosh cone with Hunter Belle Cheese’s decadent triple cream briebelle, fanned against the crunchy texture of cranberry and pistachio cheddar and a topping of spiced pear paste.
It is trimmed with locally-made salami and finished off with palate-cleansing Labelle yoghurt cheese at the bottom of the cone.
The cheese cone has been exclusively made for the Cheese Lovers Festival.
Kurrajong Kitchen owner Karen Lebsanft said it was exciting to partner with Hunter Belle Cheese owners Annie and Jason Chesworth for the project.
“We proudly support Australian farmers and locally-made produce, so it was exciting to work on a project with a local artisan cheese maker such as Hunter Belle Cheese who are equally as passionate about what they do – we’re looking forward to bringing a taste sensation to the festival that heroes what we love,” she said.
The Chesworths (also known as ‘Mr and Mrs. Cheese’ from My Kitchen Rules) will be at the festival, with presentations on the main stage at midday and 1.30pm both days.
The festival will also include cheese-making classes, beer and cheese workshops, a cheesecake competition, live music and a kids’ zone (with yard games, an animal farm and much more).
The Cheese Lovers Festival will be held at the Sebel Kirkton Park (Oakey Creek Road, Pokolbin) on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
