The family fun day will support the Cancer Council, with all monies raised from the picnic and the gold coin donation barbecue, plus donations from each stall holder to go to the charity.
Many local organisations including the Lions Club, CWA, Men’s Shed, VIEW Club, Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW, and many of the local schools will be involved on Sunday.
St Brigid’s Markets will also be a major part of the day, with over 20 stallholders attending.
Town coordinator Tammara Ward said the chamber has been working to establish a core program of community events designed to encourage the local communities to come together, embrace local groups and organisations, and enjoy the services they offer.
“The chamber believes that in light of major developments including Huntlee and Radford Park, and recent bypassing with the Hunter Expressway, now is the time for Branxton to consider the opportunities that exist to morph the towns into local hubs as opposed to the highway towns they once were,” Ms Ward said.
“This event is an opportunity for the community to engage with the chamber and gain an understanding of its strategic plans moving forward.”
Entry forms for the teddy bears picnic are available at www.branxtongreta.com.au/events.
Prizes are available for best dressed bear, biggest bear, smallest bear, oldest bear, best name and most loved miscellaneous soft toy.
The family fun day will run from 9am to 12pm and all are welcome.
