A bow and arrow variation on paintball, Archery Strike uses foam-tipped arrows to hit the target when it comes to action, fun and competitiveness.
“The aim of the game is to hit a range of targets with your two arrows,” said Lynne Fairhall from the NSW Archery Coaching Academy.
“But in the meantime you may become the target yourself as your rivals try to snipe you. To remain in the game you have to retrieve arrows, so it becomes a great test of strategy and skill as opponents try to take you down.”
Teams can be a minimum of four (two each side) to a maximum of 10 (five each side), with a minimum age of 12. Cost is $25 per person.
Although the arrows don’t hurt, protective facemasks are provided and every participant gets a 15-minute introduction to the rules and equipment from qualified and experienced archery coaches.
“Teams get an hour’s worth of shooting,” Lynne said. “You start with two arrows, and from there you have as many as you can acquire. It’s heaps of fun and will appeal to anyone who thinks they’re competitive.”
The Feral Archer Indoor Range is located at 315 New England Highway, Rutherford.
