Outgoing president Ross Lidbury handed over the reigns to Graham Farish, who will hold the position for the next twelve months.
Mr Farish said the club’s plans for the coming year include a focus on attracting new membership, continued support for the aged in our region, and a special focus for the youth of Cessnock.
“This year the Rotary International motto is ‘Rotary – Making a Difference’, and Cessnock Rotary certainly hopes to make a difference to our local community as well as the global community in this 2017-18 period,” he said.
During the dinner the club made donations to several local organisations including Girl Guides, Jacaranda Lodge, Cessnock District Rescue Squad and Wheeling and Able.
Dr Lidbury was honoured as a Paul Harris Fellow, with John Jowett and Peter Carver receiving the Sapphire Paul Harris pin.
Helen Scott received the Community Innovation and Excellence Award for her work in the Branxton community.
