Coalfields trio Mercydes Metcalf, Sophie Williams and Isabella Jennings have made club history with the Maitland Mustangs under-14 girls team.

The trio and their teammates have become the first Maitland team to qualify for a national team championships in the club’s 60 year history.
The girls team are ranked the No.1 NSW country team and the club is hoping the under-14 boys can join them, with the boys needing to win one more qualifying game to progress to the titles in Dandenong, Victoria, in September.
Metcalf, Williams and Jennings were part of the Maitland under-14 team which played in last year’s titles in Newcastle and Maitland, but the team received their spot as hosts, when Newcastle qualified in their own right.
Bottom age players at last year’s the trio have been an integral part of the team’s success in being ranked the No.1 team in NSW country.
The played together in the NSW Primary School team at last year’s national titles.
