The company will bring its interpretation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to town on Tuesday, September 12.
The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in 1989 and since then has gone on to become one of the world’s most recognised theatre companies, enjoyed and praised by critics and audiences throughout the world.
One of the goals of the world-famous troupe is to reach audiences in smaller towns, not just large cities.
CPAC coordinator Vicki Sienzcuk said she believes the dancers love making the journey to Cessnock because they simply enjoy the town.
“They find it exciting to leave the city behind and enjoy everything that a country town like Cessnock has to offer, like the fabulous vineyards,” she said.
“The Russian National Ballet Theatre is such an asset to have in the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre event roster.”
The production’s choreographer Evgeny Amosov has created a breathtaking and heart-breaking show that will leave the audiences on the edge of their seats.
Student groups will have the opportunity to observe a class before the performance, gaining a sneak peek into the regime of a professional ballet dancer.
Tickets are available at the performing arts centre box office, by phone on 4993 4266 or online at www.cessnockperformingartscentre.com.au.
