About 90,000 students around NSW headed outside to green their playgrounds and connect with nature for Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day on Friday.

St Philip’s Christian College Cessnock was among the 1000 schools that took part in Schools Tree Day, which falls two days before National Tree Day.
National Tree Day manager Debbie Agnew said the involvement of schools was an “opportunity to help our children develop a lifelong connection to nature, so that they may become the caretakers of the future”, with a theme for students this year of ‘Be Inspired: It’s in Our Nature’.
Schools Tree Day is organised by Planet Ark in partnership with Toyota Australia’s dealer network, which provides on-the-ground support at local tree planting sites Australia-wide.
Cessnock Toyota provided St Philip’s Christian College with seedlings, shirts and gloves for the day.
