NEW FESTIVAL: Billy Ray Cyrus is heading the Crossroads Country in the Vines line-up at Roche Estate on March 24.

Roche Estate in the Hunter Valley is the home of a new festival series kicking off in 2018 – Crossroads in the Vines.

The event will bring together some of the biggest names in country and blues for two massive days of music, food and entertainment.

Crossroads Blues in the Vines at Roche Estate on February 10 will host seven-time Grammy Award winner Buddy Guy (US), Ian Moss, Phil Emmanuel, Diesel, Russell Morris, Larkin Poe (US), Ted Mulry Gang, Kevin Borich, Lachy Doley Group, Mark Moroney, Mia Dyson and many more still to be announced.

Crossroads Country in the Vines will take place on March 24 with Billy Ray Cyrus, Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers, John Williamson, Caitlin Shadbolt, Amber Lawrence, The McClymonts, Sara Storer, Adam Harvey, Viper Creek Band, Christie Lamb and Beccy Cole already on the line-up.

No stranger to big-name events, Roche Estate has played host to the likes of Elton John, Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie, Duran Duran, KD Lang, Rod Stewart and Cat Stevens.

The Crossroads in the Vines events will bring the very best country and blues music, artisan markets and food stalls to a new home under the stars of Australia’s Hunter Valley wine region.

Returning to the festival scene for the first time in 18 years, Billy Ray Cyrus brought country music into the mainstream with iconic hit Achy Breaky Heart

“Back in 1993 was when I kicked off my world tour in March in Australia, so now 25 years later it just kinda felt like the right thing to do at the right time,” Cyrus said.

“I love the fans there. They love their music, they love their football, they love the arts. It’s a great country with great people and we love coming down there and playing.”

For blues fans, it doesn’t get much better than seven-time Grammy Award Winner Buddy Guy. Once described by Eric Clapton as “the best guitar player alive”, Guy’s six-decade career has been one of the most influential in blues history.

Tickets for both Crossroads in the Vines events go on sale on August 17 from Oztix.

Also announced on Thursday, Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde’s Pretenders are coming to the Hunter Valley in November for A Day On The Green at Bimbadgen.

Fans will be treated to full, individual sets by Nicks and Pretenders on November 11.

Nicks is part of the legendary Fleetwood Mac and a multi-platinum-selling artist in her own right. She has six top 10 albums, 140 million album sales and eight Grammy nominations to her name and is responsible for classic songs like Landslide, Gold Dust Woman, Rhiannon, Edge Of 17 and Gypsy.

As a member of Fleetwood Mac, Nicks performed 122 sold-out shows in 2014 and 2015. Last year she completed a sold-out solo tour of the US with The Pretenders.

“It’s been thrilling to get on stage each night and sing some of my gems from early in my career, along with getting the chance to sing the material from my last two albums, In Your Dreams and 24 Karat Gold – Songs From The Vault,” Nicks said.

The Pretenders have given us hits like Brass In Pocket, I’ll Stand By You, Back On The Chain Gang and Don’t Get Me Wrong

The band has sold in excess of 25 million albums and founder and leader Hynde is widely regarded as one of contemporary music’s greatest songwriters.

The A Day On The Green line-up will also feature Melbourne-based Ali Barter. Her first album, A Suitable Girl, debuted at number 17 on the ARIA charts and featured breakout single Girlie Bits
