The Plebs, Pros and Personalities (PPP) 24-hour treadmill challenge was held at almost 300 Anytime Fitness clubs on July 28 and 29.
The Cessnock club raised $4500 with 40 people taking part, while 25 people joined the challenge at the Kurri Kurri club, raising about $800 for the cause.
Kurri Kurri club manager Chloe Walkden said it was a great event that was enjoyed by everyone who took part.
“We are so glad to hear the large amount raised for such a great organisation, and are sure this will help in raising awareness, and may even save a life,” she said.
Funds raised from this event will support community suicide prevention efforts and research.
The treadmill challenge will return in 2018. To find out more or to donate, visit anytimefitnessppp4spa2017.everydayhero.do/.
