A man has been charged after a charity box that supports seriously ill children and their families was broken into at McDonalds Cessnock in May.

About 3.30am on May 9, money was stolen from a Ronald McDonald House charity box attached to a wall below a drive-through window.
The box contained an unknown amount of cash, predominantly made up of coins.
Police reviewed CCTV footage and forensic analysis before making the arrest.
The man was arrested at a house in Casson Avenue, Cessnock about 11am August 15.
Police said they found the man after he allegedly hid in a bedroom.
He was charged with malicious damage and larceny. The man was granted conditional bail to appear in Cessnock Local Court later this month.
