Taylor won his eighth World Series title and put his name on the inaugural Melbourne Darts Masters trophy which he promptly handed to former Australian and Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich.
The World Series moves to Perth next week.

Phil Taylor reminded Australian fans of why his is the greatest darts player in history ending Aussie Simon Whitlock’s golden run at the Melbourne Darts Masters on Sunday night.
Whitlock blew chances to take an early lead and Taylor made him pay winning seven legs against the throw to run out a commanding 11-4 victory.
Taylor dominated the double statistics throwing at 58 per cent, hitting 11 of 19 attempts.
Whitlock struggled to convert his winning opportunities landing just four of 15 shots on double.
Taylor closed out the match in style hitting two triple 20s and a double 12 to break Whitlock’s throw one last time.
The victory set up a mouth-watering final between Taylor and Peter ‘Snake Bite’ Wright who dominated Daryl Gurney to win his semi-final with an identical 11-4 win.
