The Weston Bears have made three key signings and are in talks with a number of other players as they look to boost their experience and scoring power for 2018.

Experienced Charlestown duo Josh Maguire and Todd McSorley will be joined by exciting Belmont Swansea striker Tega Adjeke, who was the leading scorer in the NEW FM League One competition last season, have joined the Bears.
Weston are also in talks with a couple of younger players from NPL clubs youth teams.
"We’ve signed a few players and kept most of the young ones and hopefully with a bit more experience in the team we will do a bit better,” Bears coach Steve Piggott said.
“Joshua Maguire is an attacking midfielder and Todd McSorley is centre back. Tega Adjeke was the leading scorer in the competition below us and is an exciting prospect.”
Piggott said Argentinian midfielder Ignacio Giampalo, who trialled with the Bears late last season, is also keen to return and the club would know by November whether he could secure a visa.
“If he can’t get the necessary permit, we will investigate other possible players from overseas,” he said.
“We’ve got a couple of youngsters who we are still holding discussions with. We’re still shopping for another player but it will depend on how many we can get under the points system.”
One year into a three-year rebuild, Piggott said they were not aiming too high but certainly wanted improvement on last season.
The Bears first grade, under-20s and under-18s have begun an eight-week program in the gym and will start back on the track on Novmeber 12.
They are doing an eight-week program in the , two nights a week and it’s been extended down to an under-18s as well.
“We hope it will help to prevent injuries long term and get everyone in the right shape mentally and physically.
“We start back on November 12 with football content for five weeks which will include a trial game against Lambton Jaffas in December.”
Meanwhile, Brock Oakley and Chris Hurley shared the major awards at the Weston Bears presentation night.
Hurley was named players’ player and also took out the Cessnock Advertiser player of the year John Wolinski Memorial Supporters Club most consistent first grade player awards. Defender Oakley won the player of the year and coaches awards.
Chelsea Rockley was the inaugural winner of the women’s player of the year and players’ player awards.
