The service is staged by the Anglican Parish of Mount Vincent and Weston in October each year in recognition of St Francis of Assisi, who is held to be the patron saint of animals and the natural environment.
“We remember Francis as one who led a simple life, and who regarded the animal world as a place of peace and simplicity,” parish priest Mother Theresa Angert-Quilter said.
“We welcome our friends from within the parish and the surrounding district who may wish to have their pets blessed as part of this service.”
The parish rabbits, Hilda and Whitby – who often visit the church’s children’s program – will be among the animals in attendance on Sunday.
The service will start at 11.15am in the grounds of Christ Church Mount Vincent.
A picnic lunch and family activities will follow the service.
