The school has partnered with the Rotary Club of Cessnock to form the club, which started in September.
Interact clubs organise at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.
Rotary clubs sponsor, mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills.
Cessnock High Interact Club public affairs officer Kyle Gosper said he got involved because he wishes to make the local area better, and Interact will provide this opportunity.
“I enjoy providing my services for the local community and do so with all my mates,” he said.
Kyle said the club has many minor goals with fundraising for local services such as the pet shelter, and also hopes to provide assistance to the Rotary Club of Cessnock to develop and add new infrastructure at Kitchener Park.
