The lecture will examine how 20th century English garden design combines a curious mixture of formality – harking back to the 17th century – and informality influenced by the new planting schemes from Holland and Germany.
Mr Bolton runs Border Lines, the oldest and most respected tour company to the finest private gardens and houses in Britain, Europe and South Africa.
He has written a number of articles on gardens and a book on garden ornaments called Garden Mania.
The lecture will be held at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Monday, October 30 at 7pm.
A light supper and Hunter Valley wines will be served after the lecture.
Tickets are $25 for guests, while students can attend for free (supper excluded).
