When police requested the driver’s licence, it was found the young man had been disqualified from driving in 2015 for 19 years. The driver will now be attending Maitland Court.

On Saturday afternoon police attended a Cessnock registered club after receiving information that a 32-year-old man who had five outstanding arrest warrants was present.

Police located and arrested the man, and it is alleged it was found that he was in possession of a small quantity of the illegal drug methylamphetamine (commonly known as ice).

Between 9.55pm and 10pm on Friday night, unknown offenders poured petrol over a parked vehicle in Hampden Street, Kurri Kurri.

The owner contacted police and  the local fire brigade, who attended and washed down the vehicle. Fortunately the petrol was not ignited.

Readers may be aware that police are targeting motorbike riders who do the wrong thing by riding unregistered motorbikes on the road.

As part of the ongoing operation, police detected a 32-year-old male rider on an unregistered motorbike at a Bellbird service station last Tuesday. It was also found he was disqualified from riding until 2019.

Last Wednesday morning a 33-year-old motorist was stopped in Kurri Kurri in relation in to traffic matters.

The vehicle was subsequently searched and it is alleged four pairs of expensive sunglasses and a quantity of jewellery to the value of $5000 was located.

In addition it is alleged five knives were also discovered secreted in the vehicle.

Police allege the goods were stolen and as a result the man will be attending Kurri Kurri Court.
