It only lasted a short time however it certainly left a trail of destruction. Many of you would be aware the Kurri Kurri Community Centre, Kurri Kurri Library and Ambulance Hall suffered damage, as well as many other local businesses and homes.
The Kurri Kurri Community Centre has done an exceptional job in dealing with this crisis and I congratulate them on how they have worked together.
A big thanks needs to go to the State Emergency Services, local police, local firefighters and Cessnock City Council staff. Each of these groups acted very quickly ensuring the safety of our residents.
Council will provide updates as they come to hand in relation to the community centre and library.
POSTIE BIKE GRAND PRIX A GREAT SUCCESS
Postie Bikes were roaring through Cessnock on the first weekend of November with the fourth Australian Postie Bike Grand Prix a success.
Despite the wet weather it was great to see locals and visitors enjoying the entertainment. Well done to the Cessnock Motorcycle Club, this event will only continue to grow and develop.
REMEMBRANCE DAY A MOVING OCCASION
Remembrance Day was an important day for our entire community, an opportunity to acknowledge servicemen and women.
The Kearsley service was a moving occasion, as I imagine were the many other commemoration services that took place across the LGA. Thank you to all the organisers, your commitment to this service is admirable.
