The club celebrated the milestone occasion with a dinner at Cessnock Leagues Club on November 9.
Club president Graham Farish said it was pleasing to have representatives from several other Rotary clubs, and the recently-formed Cessnock High Interact Club, in attendance.
Mr Farish said the cutting of the anniversary cake by the club’s longest-serving member, Brian Howe, and youngest Interactor, Jack White, was one of the highlights of the night.
Another highlight was a presentation to Cessnock club member Bill Flett in recognition of his 40 years of service.
Many fond memories were shared during the night, especially after a powerpoint presentation that depicted the 80 years highlighting every president, inbound and outbound exchange students and photos that covered the club’s history.
“From all reports and feedback, all had a great night,” Mr Farish said.
The Rotary Club of Cessnock continues to serve the community locally and internationally and is always keen to recruit new members.
