The time capsule was buried on November 28, 1992, at the dedication of the preschool’s new building in Cessnock Street.
Former staff were invited back on Thursday for the ceremony and Donna Haysman, who was director at the time, had the honour of digging it up.
It contained two T-shirts (one from St Alban’s Preschool and the other from Aberdare), some children’s drawings and a copy of the Advertiser from the week it was buried.
Current director Joy Roberts then placed a new time capsule into the same spot, to be re-opened in another 25 years.
That capsule also included a T-shirt, drawings and an Advertiser, as well as photos of the children, the latest committee minutes, and a shopping list including today’s prices of milk, bread, bananas and petrol.
“Here’s to another 25 years,” Ms Roberts said.
