Scores of people braved the heat to attend the historic occasion, which included post ripping, blacksmith and vintage car displays as well as camel rides.
The school threw open its doors for the occasion to give visitors an insight into just how far it has come over the past 150 years.
There was also plenty of entertainment to be had including a stirring performance from the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools choir.
Principal Ben Durie said that the day was a huge success and one that would live long in the memory of current students and ex-students that were in attendance.
"I'm just over the moon with how it turned out," he said.
"It was a very fitting way to celebrate our 150th and it was great to see so many people turn out on the day."
Mr Durie added that people travelled from as far as Western Australia to attend the festivities.
