The event was the culmination of months of fundraising, including a charity barbecue, boot camp and a head shave, which altogether raised $15,754.05 for the Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance and Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation.
Event organiser Anthony Burke said he was overwhelmed by the support of the people and businesses in our local community.
“This year’s event was a huge success. We had an increase in ticket sales and money raised than last year,” he said.
The Leagues Club stage turned into a barbershop on the night when Anthony’s co-MC Clint Ekert had his head shaved, raising about $1500.
Rachael Stinson’s spontaneous decision to have her head shaved too added an extra $1000 or so to the total, and Kurri Rotarian Alwin Huber also joined in and had his beard shaved off.
Rachael said she didn’t regret parting with her long blonde locks, as it was for such a great cause.
A giant raffle and impressive list of auction items added thousands to the fundraising total.
Anthony thanked everyone who supported and attended the event, and said he is looking forward Dine 4 Charity returning in 2015.
“(It) will be an annual event where we can raise much-needed funds and awareness for Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance and Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation and have an enjoyable night out.”
