Entries for Cessnock City Council’s Heritage Week photography competition close Friday, April 8.
The competition is open to all residents of the Cessnock local government area and provides an opportunity for the creative community to celebrate the city’s unique local heritage.
Photographs must contain features of a listed heritage item, or be taken in a heritage conservation Area or Aboriginal place of heritage significance, as listed in the Cessnock Local Environmental Plan 2011.
There are about 200 heritage items in the Cessnock local government area.
A full list of heritage items and maps of the heritage conservation areas are available on the council’s website.
A panel of judges will select first, second and third place in two categories; child/youth (under 18) and adult (18 and over).
The winners will be announced during Heritage Week (April 16 to 24).
Entries must be submitted in JPEG format and can be emailed to council@cessnock.nsw.gov.au (quote ‘Heritage Photography Competition’ in the subject line); by post to PO Box 152 Cessnock NSW 2325, or in person to Cessnock City Council’s administration building (62-78 Vincent Street, Cessnock).
