Mai-Wel’s specialist disability employment service at Cessnock, Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions has recently partnered with McDonald’s to provide employment opportunities for local jobseekers with a disability.
Mai-Wel participants Mary Marks and Francis Read recently started working as dining room attendants at McDonald’s Kurri and are loving their new roles.
“McDonald’s is a good place to work and make new friends. There is good company here for me,” Ms Marks said.
“I think I’ve learnt more skills here; sweeping, mopping, wiping down tables and talking to customers.
“Everyone is really nice to me and always asks me how I am.”
Ms Marks started working at McDonald’s just before her mother passed away.
“Mum was very proud I got this job,” she said.
Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions has been working with McDonald’s Kurri and Cessnock for two years.
McDonald’s employs of hundreds of people with disabilities throughout Australia.
