Rotary exchange student Linda Herrmannova has tried many new things in her nine months in Australia.
And before she heads back home to the Czech Republic in June, she will try her hand at soccer with Kurri Women’s Football Club.
Linda has been staying with Kurri Rotarians Alison and Stephen Crane since January, after spending her first six months in Australia at Singleton.
She is enrolled in Year 12 at Kurri High School.
She was looking for clubs to join in Kurri and found out about the women’s football club, which plays in the Newcastle-Hunter-Macquarie Interdistrict competition.
“I’ve never played soccer before, but I wanted to try,” she said.
Football club president David Brooks said the coaches are impressed with Linda’s form and attitude.
The season will get underway in late April.
The club has kindly provided Linda with a uniform and covered her registration.
Kurri Rotary Club president-elect Anthony Burke said the club would like to thank the football club for their support and for making Linda feel welcome.
