2015 X-Factor favourites Brothers3 will bring their East Coast tour to Cessnock on May 7.
The Brothers Never Apart tour takes the name from their most recent single and album which debuted at number 11 on the ARIA mainstream charts and number 1 on the country charts.
Siblings Makirum ‘Mak’, Shardyn and Tayzin Fahey-Leigh founded Brothers3 in 2009. They learned music growing up on a rural property in Mudgee that had no electricity or running water.
“All we had is music,” Mak told the Advertiser.
Since a dream run on X-Factor last year, Brothers3’s have laced their country-folk roots with the energy and hooks of pop music.
“Country is organic, grainy, real instruments,” Mak said.
“And that’s what we are, we’re three musos, we make all the music ourselves.
Mak said touring with his brothers was, at times, challenging but their closeness made them the tightest possible musical outfit.
“I hate I’m saying it but we’re the best team we could be,” he said.
Brothers3 have just spent the last few weeks performing in the centre ring of the Sydney Royal Easter Show to crowds of thousands.
While the tour will hit the East Coast capitals, Mak said the band was excited to be touring regional Australia.
“We came from humble beginnings,” he said.
“We are farm boys, after all.
“One of our first gigs was in a little hall in the country.
“We like to show our appreciation [for the regional areas], show we care.”
The new album, from which the two-hour live-set is taken, showcases the band as writers of original music and faithful students of the greats.
Covers of Elvis’ Always on My Mind and Simon and Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence ensure fans of the bands’ X-Factor stint will have plenty to sing along to.
Brothers3 will play the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on May 7. More information and tickets are avaliable at cessnockperformingartscentre.com.au.
