The Jeremy Sylvester-trained Three Sheets showed he is a gelding of promise taking out the TAB Highway Handicap at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Three Sheets, perfectly ridden by star apprentice Rory Hutchings easily accounted for his rivals coming from midfield to score by a widening one and three quarter lengths over the 1000 metres journey.
The winner was coming off a two months spell after a solid effort in a country championships qualifier at Muswellbrook where he finished fifth.
The big syndicate of owners, mostly from the Cessnock area, would have been thrilled at how the Stratum four-year- old has returned to racing and would be looking forward to its upcoming preparation.
Three Sheets has now won four races from 14 starts with six placings for prizemoney totalling $156,125 after Saturday’s victory.
The gelding went under the hammer for $250,000 at the 2013 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sales.
Meanwhile, Zadok The Priest answered the prayers of its connections putting together its second win on the trot in the Bengalla Handicap at Muswellbrook races last Friday.
The four-year- old gelding by Raheeb broke through for its first win in 16 starts at Gosford on May 5 and followed up with a gutsy performance to take out the Muswellbrook event.
The winner is prepared by veteran Cessnock trainer Robert (Puddy) Davies and was finding it hard to win with four minor placings leading up to the winning double.
