The day is only half over for Motorfest Maitland but hundreds of people have already poured through the gates to get up-close-and-personal with some of the region’s coolest cars.
While hotrods are out in force this morning, there’re plenty of legendary Australian street machines as well.
Some cars are beyond compare – among them Kevin Ryan’s 1913 Fiat. The century-spanning journey of Mr Ryan’s car started in Italy and almost ended after 50 years of stagnation in a shed at a farm in Somersby.
But in the 1992 Mr Ryan rescued the classic car and restored it. This morning the crank-powered beauty hummed from Tarro to Maitland Showground (no faster than 60km/hr) to sit alongside the finest, loudest, and most powerful cars ever assembled.
