A Cessnock ballet dancer who now resides in Russia is holding a ballet workshop in Newcastle this Sunday.
Lawrence Lambert is on a short break from teaching at the Yakobson Ballet Company.
The 23-year-old has been living in Russia for the past four years.
In that time he became the first and only Australian to have graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy, joining the likes of Anna Pavlova, Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov as an alumni of the school.
Lawrence was accepted into the school after having studied classical ballet for just four years.
But it was in Cessnock that Lawrence found his initial love for dance, starting out learning tap at Kirsty Gunther Academy of Dance at age nine
Now he is back in Australia he has organised a series of workshops to pass on his knowledge and experience to aspiring ballet dancers before heading back to Russia.
The Vaganova style workshop will take place at the National College of Dance, Lambton.
The senior class (intermediate and above) will run from 9.30am-1pm and the juniors (grade one to inter foundation) from 1.04-4.35pm.
