The Newcastle Jets will hold a free kids’ clinic at Cessnock Sportsground on September 23, the day before their Hyundai A-League pre-season clash against the Western Sydney Wanderers at the same ground.
The 90-minute clinic is open to children aged six to 12 and will include coaching, games, a free sausage sizzle, a goody bag and autograph signing.
Cessnock City Council general manager Stephen Glen said Jets: Play is a fantastic initiative giving young footballers the opportunity to meet players and coaches.
“It will be an invaluable experience for up 200 kids who will have the chance to get on the pitch with some of Australia’s best footballers”, Mr Glen said.
The clinic will run from 4pm to 5.30pm. Spots are limited to 200 kids and registrations can be made online at www.membership.newcastlejets.com.au/events/view/308.
Preparations are ramping up for the September 24 game against the Wanderers, which will be the Jets’ last pre-season match before the A-League season kicks off.
Jets chief executive officer Lawrie McKinna said the club is excited to play in front of a strong local crowd.
“We very much look forward to bringing a Hyundai A-League pre-season match to Cessnock and playing at the superb venue,” he said.
Tickets can be purchased at the Hunter Valley Visitor Centre or online from Ticketmaster.
