The project has included tree planting and upgrades to the drainage, car parking and footpath. It also highlights the original stone flagging under the awnings of the businesses.
“The project is not just about beautification of one of our most historic townships but also improves pedestrian amenity,” Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said.
“It is important we ensure footpaths in the community are adequate for all residents, particularly those that give access to our local businesses.
“Station Street is now safer for not only pedestrians but motorists with the upgrades to parking”.
Ward C councillor Anne Sander, former councillor Catherine Parsons and Pat Maybury (wife of the late councillor Jeff Maybury) joined Cr Pynsent to plant trees at the site last week.
“They have all been instrumental to the completion of this project,” Cr Pynsent said.
