Mr Brown passed away in May 2016, after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.
The Rotary Club of Kurri Kurri has launched a scholarship in his memory, to help a local young person with their trade studies.
Applications are open to first or second-year electrotechnology (commercial or residential only) students, who live in the Cessnock local government area and are aged 25 or under.
The scholarship winner will receive a $1000 tool voucher, and $1000 cash (that will be given to the winner on completion of their current trade year).
“We are very proud to do this in Col’s honour as Col gave so much to our Rotary club for over 40 years,” Kurri Rotary Club president Anthony Burke said.
“He is and always will be the true legend of the Rotary Club of Kurri Kurri.
“This scholarship is in Col’s honour for his tireless work in our local town, industry and service clubs.
“We are looking for a local young person who deserves a fair go.”
Nominations must be submitted by June 14.
