The boy’s mother, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was concerned and disgusted by the incident, especially considering the amount of children who walk through the area on Mount View Road.
“There was rubbish and beer bottles everywhere. It’s disgusting,” she said.
The bottle was sealed and the boy’s grandmother disposed of it.
Anyone who finds a discarded needle or syringe should call the Needle Clean-Up Hotline on 1800 633 353 (1800 NEEDLE).
The Needle Clean-Up Hotline takes reports from the public and coordinates the clean-up of dumped needles and syringes in public places in NSW.
Safe sharps disposal units are available at hospitals and some pharmacies.
